► Summary: The author, honorary Inspector General of Justice and co-author of the evaluation report Une justice pour l’environnement, traces the origins of the environmental public interest judicial agreement (CJIPE), introduced by the Act of 24 December 2020, from the American deferred prosecution agreement and the CJIP created by the Sapin II Act. He offers an empirical assessment of the first validated agreements (courts involved, amounts of fines, content of the remedial measures, role of stakeholders) and argues for deepening these processes and giving the mechanism a European dimension.
