► Full reference: Journal of Regulation & Compliance (JoRC) and Université Paris Panthéon-Assas, Research Centre on Justice and Dispute Resolution (CRJ) and Research Centre in Economics and Law (CRED), Le « Contrat de compliance » (The “Compliance Contract”), 12 June 2026 - 🏗️ This symposium is part of the series of symposia organised by the Journal of Regulation & Compliance (JoRC) and its partner Universities, focusing in 2026 on the general theme of Compliance and Contract. - The symposium is under the scientific direction of 🕴️Bruno Deffains, Professor at Université Paris Panthéon-Assas, of 🕴️Marie-Anne Frison-Roche, Professor of Regulatory and Compliance Law, Director of the Journal of Regulation & Compliance (JoRC) and of the European School of Regulation and Compliance (EeRC), and of 🕴️Jean-Baptiste Racine, Professor at Université Paris Panthéon-Assas. - 🧮 The symposium took place on Friday 12 June 2026, from 9 am to 1 pm, at Université Paris Panthéon-Assas, Auditorium, 87 rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs, 75006 Paris, on site. It was held in French. - ► Presentation of the theme: Companies have a legal obligation to set up Compliance structures, such as whistleblowing systems, plans, information-gathering and data-security systems. Many adopt a managerial strategy that leads them to outsource the implementation of this obligation, or even to outsource the Compliance structure itself, which then most often takes the form of a platform, even though responsibility cannot be transferred. But the boundary becomes blurred between structure and behaviour, between responsibility for the decision and its implementation. The hypothesis studied here through the “Compliance Contract”, which must not be confused with “Compliance Clauses” but is articulated with them, is the massive use by companies of this type of contract, whose existence and typology were identified in 2022. Corresponding to a large share of the “Compliance market” – perhaps to a specific market –, it could constitute a special contract, calling at the very least for a specific regime, whether under Competition Law, Data Law, in particular personal data, etc. - 📝 The proceedings of this symposium form the basis of a chapter of the book Compliance and Contract, forthcoming in the Compliance & Regulation series, co-published by the JoRC and Bruylant, and of its French version, Compliance et Contrat, co-published by the JoRC and Lefebvre-Dalloz.
